Kattankulathur, November 18, 2025:
The SRM Institute of Hotel Management (SRMIHM), SRMIST, celebrated its grand Christmas Fruit Mixing Ceremony on November 18, 2025, with great enthusiasm. The college has followed this tradition for over 25 years, marking yet another memorable chapter. The event was filled with festive cheer, vibrant energy, and the unmistakable spirit of togetherness.
The ceremony was graced by two distinguished culinary professionals—Chef Nisarg, Executive Chef of Novotel and Ibis OMR, and Chef Boopesh Pichaimani, Corporate Chef of Writer’s Café. Both chefs addressed the students, sharing valuable insights about the hospitality industry and emphasising how rejuvenating, enriching, and creatively fulfilling this field can be.
Chef Boopesh highlighted the joy of the profession, remarking that “when all the cakes baked get sold, there is a joy beyond bounds.” Highlighting the cultural significance of the gathering, he added, “Fruit mixing marks the festive Christmas season.” His words deeply resonated with the aspiring young chefs.
Chef Nisarg described the occasion as “a festival of harvest and a sign of bounty” and encouraged the students to embrace the vast opportunities available in the industry and to continue learning with passion.
Dr. D. Antony Ashok Kumar, Director of SRMIHM, also addressed the gathering, appreciating the students’ efforts and reiterating the significance of nurturing such traditions that bring warmth, joy, and unity to the campus.
A major highlight of this year’s celebration was the fashionable procession of bottles, carried by students dressed in specially coordinated attire, who marched rhythmically towards the guest panel, creating a captivating start to the ceremony. As the countdown began, all the liquors were simultaneously poured into the rich blend of fruits and nuts, marking the official start of the Christmas preparations. The moment was filled with laughter, excitement, and festive delight, setting the perfect tone for the season ahead.
The event concluded with high spirits, sweet memories, and the promise of a joyous Christmas to come.
