The Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival is an annual cultural event held around the Sri Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Chennai every January, coinciding with the Pongal festival. This event is traditionally begun with a kutcheri in the morning at the Navaratri mantapam inside the Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple.
The event then moves on to cultural events that take place in open spaces, streets, and semi-private venues surrounding the Kapaleeshwarar Temple.
The Kutcheris feature budding young artists from various music schools in Chennai.
The combination of traditional street festivities and classical arts events like kutcheris showcases Mylapore as the cultural heart of Chennai, blending heritage with community spirit.
