Chennai, February 2026: AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB), India’s largest small finance bank and the first to receive in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to transition into a Universal Bank, today announced the launch of a key road safety initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. As part of the initiative, the bank has installed two traffic police booths and deployed 30 traffic barricades across high-density traffic zones in Chennai.
The traffic police booths have been installed at two critical junctions – MRC Nagar Main Junction (near Sun TV Network Signal), Karpagam Avenue Road, Santhome, and Santhome Church Signal (opposite the Airtel Main Office). In addition, 30 barricades have been strategically placed along North Mada Street, Kutuchery Road, RK Mutt Road and RK Salai, areas that routinely witness heavy vehicularand pedestrian movement.
This initiative aims to strengthen on-ground traffic management, support the Chennai Traffic Police in maintaining law and order, and enhance road safety awareness among citizens in some of the city’s busiest corridors.
The inauguration of the traffic police booths forms part of AU Small Finance Bank’s broader CSR strategy focused on public safety, infrastructure support and community welfare.
