Chennai,2026 – The Rotary Club of Chennai Carnatic & GSquare, in collaboration with the Carnatic Foundation, the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association and the Chengalpattu District Chess Association, successfully concluded Checkmate 2026, the inaugural edition of its Carnatic Sports League Open Chess Tournament.
The tournament attracted over 400 participants from schools and colleges. Competitions were conducted across Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, and Under-16 categories for boys and girls, and were organised by SJ Chess Academy. The event showcased exceptional strategic thinking, discipline, and competitive spirit, with young champions emerging across categories and receiving prizes amid enthusiastic support and encouragement strengthening community connections while advancing youth empowerment through mind sports.

Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital hosted the event, and Vivac Skill Training Academy sponsored branded certificates—together amplifying brand visibility, CSR impact, and youth development. Chief Guest Rtn. A.K. Vinod Sarogi, District Governor, distributed the prizes and commended Rotary’s role in holistic youth development.
