Chennai, November 2023: D.A.V. Kala Kendram – the Creative Arts Academy of D.A.V. Group of Schools, Chennai hosted ‘NRITYOTSAV – A State-level Traditional Dance Competition on 25th November 2023 at D.A.V School, Pallikaranai.
The event saw over 200 students from across the city’s schools competing enthusiastically on the stage in two categories – Group dance and Adaptune.
While the Group Dance category was based on the theme – Five Elements, the Adaptune category tested each dancers’ quick ability to match their steps with the music. Overall, the dancers mesmerized the audience with their scintillating performance.
Chief Guests Kalaimamani M Sridhar and Dancer Akshadha Sridhar (DAV Alumna) graced the occasion. The Jury comprised of veteran dancers Anthara Devarajan, Sanmathi Saravanam and Smriti Vishwanath.
The ‘Best Performer’ Award for both the categories was won by DAV Matriculation School, Gill Nagar. Sri SankaraSchool and Jawahar Vidyalaya Senior Secondary Schoolwon trophies for overall Best Dancer Male and Best Dancer Female respectively.
Dr Arti of DAV Kala Kendram stated that the Academy encourages children to explore their interests and hone their talent in the areas performing, visual and literary arts with the help of experts and visiting faculty.
