Chennai: The much-awaited FICCI Tamil Nadu State Council HR Summit and Score Awards 2024 on the Topic “Redefining HR- The Power of People” opened on a promising note here on Wednesday with Mr.Kumar Jayant, Additional Chief Secretary , Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu,making a passionate plea for the use of HR in terms of handholding the employees in any organization across the spectrum.
In his keynote address, Mr.Kumar Jayant wanted theindustries to make use of the digitised HR system, all for keeping the workforce relevant to an organization.
While stressing on capacity building, the top official said thetime has come for industries to retain employees in the form of proper training for their career growth apart from stopping attrition happening in the highly competitive world of business.
He said that the job cycle is based on so many things and the basic driver for the progress of human society can depend on the proper use of HR which has the capacity to build on emerging technologies.
With technology advancements, he said that industries are seeing flexi concept becoming a norm for employees post-Covid and more and more companies are adopting to the culture of hybrid workplace and make them satisfied.
Mr.Kumar Jayant also noted that technology has the advantage to track productivity of employees when they adopt hybrid work culture.
Specific steps are needed to attract women workforce in organisations and make them continue their career till the age of retirement without any interruption due to familyreasons , Mr.Kumar Jayant added.
Mr.Oleg Avdeev, Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Chennai, the Guest of Honour, traced the HR situation in Russia after the pandemic and dwelt at length on the current job scenario in his country.
He said the labour market in Russia is showing great strides and moving upward despite the global condition and the prospects are there for greater job opportunities with foreign players maintaining their positive stance in leveraging the employment at all levels though there is a considerable imbalance in the labour market.
Mr.Oleg spoke at length on HR in Russia with a pointed reference to the availability of IT specialization and blue collar employees in manufacturing and transportation sectors.
He said that a total of 2.3 million workers are needed for Russia in the realm of all types of industries and there is a great demand for manual labour in construction sites apart from engineers in various fields. He commended the role of HR people in matters related to counselling and enhancing the retention of workers with increased salary and other benefits.
He was all praise for FICCI’s HR Summit that could provide new ideas on the role of HR in all organisations and the deliberations would go a long way in making the participants understand the emerging trends in the HR field.
In his special address, Dr.G V Selvam, Vice President, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), said that the future of HR is based on a strong strategy with the involvement of men, mission and technology.
He said that many companies prefer women in the realm of HR which is considered to be the greater asset to any organization for that matter and that too in a highly competitive world of business.
He also praised for the team of ISRO and the space organization’s culture and expertise in the chosen field of space exploration. Stating that AI can play a major role in work management, He further added that the tool can leverage the existing workforce besides upskilling them. He also wanted the retention of workforce in organizations by treating them well. The extension of customer value apart from aligning people and the system can happen only with the proper use of HR in all its dimensions.
In his welcome address, MR.N R Mani, Convenor– FICCI TN HR Panel & Head HR –Lucas TVS Ltd., said that the FICCI event is to celebrate excellence and innovation in the field of HR as the key lies in empowering our valuable assets in a rapidly evolving techno business landscape.
He also said that the changing workforce dynamics makesnew strategies for cultivating talent and here comes the use of emerging technologies even as the horizon of possibilities is expanding.
