The second day of Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2025 began with a lively group instrumental performance by Students of Sruthilaya School of Music, under the watchful eyes of their guru Shri Suresh R, at the Sri Kapaleeshwara Temple. There was good harmony by the violins, keyboard, mridangam and flute all leading to some beautiful music.
In the evening, ‘Rhythms of India’ led by Jus Drums Murali and his group set the stage alight with their rousing beats. This performance had the large crowd stamping their feet and asking for more. The puppet show featuring Muthuchandran Tholpavai Koothu Kalai Kuzhu from Kanniyakumari was well received. Muthuchandran coming on stage to show his versatility in voice modulation while giving voice to numerous character post the puppet show received wide applause.
The highlight of the evening was ‘Kapali Arupatthumoovar’ a dance drama choreographed by Jayanthi Subramaniam, along with students of Kala Darsana, which had the crowd spellbound.
As part of the festival, Sundaram Finance has been crusading the cause of “Say No to Plastic Bags”. For the 13th consecutive year, around 10,000 cloth bags will be given to residents in exchange for plastic bags. Ruva Foundation, a Bengaluru-based NGO, helped with the distribution of these bags while educating the public on the ill-effects of plastic on the environment. Sundaram Finance also conducts a “Keep Mylapore Clean” campaign by educating the public on hygiene and sanitation.
