Rotary Club of Madras donates Medical Equipment to Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital

Chennai, January 5, 2023: The Rotary Club of Madras (RCM) in association with  Rotary Clubs from USA today donated medical equipment worth Rs. 70.40 lakhs through a Rotary District Grant to Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital.

Speaking at the function President, Rotary Club of Madras,Jayshree Sridhar said that we at RCM have  always believed in serving the underprivileged sections of society particularly children.This is the  third time in 2 years that we have given sophisticated equipment to the hospital which is doing yeoman service for the children. The total value is  Rs.1.08 crore.

According to Dr. Bala Ramachandran of the Department of Intensive Care & Emergency Medicine at Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital, this equipment will allow seriously ill children from the poorer sections of society receive state-of-the art care during various surgeries and in the Intensive Care Unit / Emergency Room.

At a simple ceremony attended by  current District Governor Dr. Nandakumar, Past District Governor J. Sridhar and many Rotarians from RCM including President Jayshree Sridhar and  Past President Mohan Raman,  the equipment was formally handed over.

The equipment consists of:

A Ziehm 8000 Image Intensifier (C-arm) from Germany costing Rs. 43 lakhs.   This is used for critical intraoperative imaging of children undergoing various surgeries. The major advantage of this device is that it exposes the children to minimal radiation, thus safeguarding their health.

A Johnson & Johnson orthopaedic drill costing Rs.9.64 lakhs for performing bone surgeries on children

Six Philips bedside multiparameter patient monitors, costing Rs.8.37 lakhs, for monitoring seriously ill children in the ICU and Emergency Room

Eleven infusion and syringe pumps costing Rs. 6.38 lakhs for administering fluids and medicines accurately to children

A bedside EEG machine costing Rs. 2.97 lakhs for monitoring the brain activity of seriously ill children in the ICU
