“Medicine is not defined by degrees or designations, but by the responsibility, integrity, and compassion with which you serve every patient and the communities that place their trust in you,” said Dr. Nitin Nagrkar, Pro Vice Chancellor , SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, SRMIST, as he addressed the newly admitted postgraduate students during the Post Graduate Induction Programme for MD/MS 2025–2026 at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre.
Under the visionary leadership of Dr. T. R. Parivendhar, Founder Chancellor, and Dr. P. Sathyanarayan, Pro-Chancellor (Academics), SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre welcomed the new postgraduate batch for 2025-26, committed to excellence in education, patient care, and serving communities.
Welcoming a large gathering of postgraduate students, Dr. Nitin Nagrkar emphasised that postgraduate medical education extends far beyond academic achievement. He spoke about the central role of compassion, ethical practice, and continuous learning in shaping credible and humane clinicians. Encouraging students to view their academic journey as a social responsibility, he highlighted SRM’s vision of nurturing doctors who combine clinical competence with empathy, integrity, and a deep commitment to society. He also noted that the strong response to the programme reflected the growing trust in SRM’s medical education ecosystem.
Addressing the students, Dr. T.Mythili ,Additional Registrar remarked, “SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre is where postgraduate learning transforms into clinical judgment, and where responsibility, mentorship, and patient care together shape doctors whom society can truly trust.” She encouraged the students to actively engage with the academic environment, clinical exposure, and mentorship opportunities available at SRM, while upholding discipline, dedication, and respect for patients throughout their training.
Dr. Mythili further reassured the students of the institution’s unwavering support, emphasising that SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre remains committed to delivering high-quality clinical training, a strong ethical foundation, and meaningful opportunities for research and innovation.
Dr. J. S. Kumar, Associate Dean, PG Academics (MHS), SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, outlined the institution’s key commitments to its postgraduate doctors: “At SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, we make three promises to our postgraduate doctors: a strong commitment to patient care, continuous support for learning and research, and the assurance that they will never walk this demanding journey alone.”
Dr. R. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, highlighted the hospital’s clinical excellence: “Postgraduate doctors at SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre will be trained as both skilled clinicians and capable clinical administrators, gaining extensive exposure at our 1,600-bed hospital with a wide range of patient care and medical cases.”
The Post Graduate Induction Programme marked the formal commencement of the academic journey for the MD/MS batch of 2025–2026, setting a clear tone of learning, service, and professional growth.
