Kattankulathur, December 2025
Reaffirming the power of alumni community in shaping institutional legacy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) celebrated Alumni Day 2025 on 20th December 2025, bringing together over 1300 alumni across various disciplines and campuses. The event stood as a testament to SRMIST’s enduring bond with its graduates and their role in carrying the institution’s values into the wider world. With the first batch graduating in 1989, SRMIST’s alumni legacy has been built over decades by graduates who continue to shape the institution’s story across the world.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor highlighted “SRM did not grow because of one person. It grew because every alumni who passed through this campus carried it forward.” and the collective contribution of alumni to SRM’s growth, noting that the institution’s progress has always been driven by the people who passed through its corridors and carried its spirit forward.
Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, stated this shared vision, calling upon alumni to remain engaged with their alma mater. “Stay connected, mentor the next generation, and give back to SRM—because the growth of this university is a shared responsibility,”. Alumni were encouraged to engage with SRM by mentoring students and participating in the teaching community. He emphasized support for start-ups through DEI initiatives, noting that over 50 start-ups are thriving. They were also urged to stay connected with the university’s career centre to guide and empower the next generation.
Alumni Day 2025 was marked by heartfelt reflections from former students who spoke about SRM’s transformative role in their lives. Mr. Selvaraj Srinivasan of the 1991 batch shared his journey, stating, “From a rural classroom to global platforms, SRM laid the foundation for every dream I dared to pursue.” Ms. Vino Supraja, the first architect from Vandavasi and an alumna of SRM’s 2001 batch, reflected on her personal growth, saying, “This campus did not just educate me; it embraced my vulnerability and transformed me into a confident woman.”
A key highlight of Alumni Day 2025 was the Alumni Awards Ceremony, which honoured outstanding alumni under three categories: Distinguished Alumni, Eminent Alumni, and Young Achievers. The awardees were recognised for their excellence, leadership, and contributions across industry, academia, entrepreneurship, and social service, and shared reflections on their formative years at SRMIST.
The celebration reaffirmed SRMIST’s commitment to lifelong alumni engagement, recognising achievements across generations and strengthening the bonds that continue to shape the institution’s legacy through its global alumni community.
