Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2026 Begins With 5 Events

Chennai, December 30, 2025…This year, the Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival 2026 will begin with five events scheduled for the weekend of January 3rd and 4th, 2026. 

The main events of the Festival will be held between January 8th to 11th, 2026

There are two events on Saturday, January 3, 2026

The Dayakattam contest starts at 4 p.m. at the hall inside Lady Sivaswamy Ayyar Girls School, Mylapore. This contest is open to all and free, with no pre-registration required. Children and Adults will play together as teams. The contest will run for about two hours. Details are online – at www.mylaporefestival.in

At 4.30p.m. is a Food Walk curated and led by Sridhar Venkataraman; he will take guests to a set of popular and less-known snacks joints in one zone of Mylapore. This is open to all, free and does not need prior registration. You pay for what you order and eat. Starts at the gate of Indian Bank, North Mada Street.

There are three events on Sunday, January 4, 2026

Starting at 7.30 a.m. on Sunday, January 4th, 2026, senior Mylaporean K R Jambunathan will take guests on his ‘Nooks of Mylapore’ Walk, sharing anecdotes of life and times of the area in the 1960s and 70s. Open to all, no pre-registration required. Starts opposite Mylapore Police Station on Kutchery Road. 

The Pallankuzhi contest starts at 1.45 p.m. on Sunday January 4th, 2026 at the hall inside Lady Sivaswamy Ayyar Girls School, Mylapore. This contest is open to all and free, with no pre-registration – children and adults will play together as teams. The contest will run for about two hours. Details are online – at www.mylaporefestival.in

The Mylapore Quiz is back and will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 4th, 2026 at the Lady Sivaswamy Ayyar Girls School, Mylapore. Open to teams of two – there is a written, prelim round and a final round. Quizmaster Sundararaman C., says all questions are focussed on the greater Mylapore zone – covering heritage, landmarks, people and lifestyle too. Pre-registration is not needed to participate.
