World Emergency Medicine Day: Iswarya Hospital Holds Mock Drill on External Disaster and Emergency Management

Chennai, May 27th, 2025: In commemoration of World Emergency Medicine Day, Iswarya Hospital, a super speciality hospital at OMR, Chennai, conducted a comprehensive mock drill today to simulate real-time emergency response protocols and reinforce preparedness for casualty incidents and critical emergencies in the city. The purpose of this exercise was to assess the hospital’s readiness, coordination of response, efficiency in triage, and critical care capabilities during a mass casualty incident. The mock drill happened from 12 to 3 pm today, around 10 victims were brought to the hospital in ambulances for the mock drill stimulation.

The drill brought together around 40 hospital staff which included a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and support staff, demonstrating coordinated actions in response to a hypothetical emergency scenario. The simulation included triage, patient stabilisation, trauma care, evidence-based practice, code blue system, disaster management, ventilator facilities and emergency evacuation, aiming to evaluate response times, resource mobilisation, and interdepartmental coordination.
