UNIFAI Robotic Multispeciality Hospital celebrates First anniversary & Free Blood Check-up Camp for 52 Sanitary Workers

UNIFAI Robotic MultispecialityHospital Chennai celebrated its first anniversary alongside the 52nd birthday of the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Joseph Vijay. To mark the occasion, the hospital organised a free comprehensive blood check-up camp on its premises for 52 sanitary workers from Zone 10 – Ward 129 of the Greater Chennai Corporation. This initiative underscores the hospital’s ongoing commitment to extending quality healthcare to the city’s frontline workers, who work tirelessly to keep our neighbourhoods clean and safe.

The camp was inaugurated by Cine Playback Singer and Actor Mano, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest and greeted all sanitary workers. The event was presided over by Dr. V. Surekha Sri, Maxillofacial and Hair Transplant Surgeon and Dr. S. Sivakumar, Anaesthesiologist, of UNIFAI Robotic Multispeciality Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. V. Surekha Sri, Maxillofacial and Hair Transplant Surgeon, UNIFAI Robotic Multispeciality Hospital said: “Sanitary workers are regularly exposed to sewage, chemicals, sharp waste and harmful micro-organisms, which significantly increase their risk of developing various health disorders – often without visible symptoms. A simple blood test can help detect underlying conditions early and enable timely treatment. We feel it is our commitment to be part of their health and well-being – they care for us daily and we must care for them in return.”

Reason for choosing Sanitary Workers & Post Check-up Measures

Sanitary workers risk their health daily cleaning our surroundings—they are frequently exposed to sewage, chemicals, sharp waste, and blood-contaminated particles, making them prone to common infections, respiratory and skin issues, and at high risk for Hepatitis B & C.

The hospital screens and identifies health issues from test reports, provides immediate medical aid, offers 3-month vaccination courses for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C to protect them and ensures expert consultations and guidance for all necessary follow-up care.

The camp provided quick health assessments, helping the workers gain valuable insights into their overall health. The initiative is part of UNIFAI’s ongoing social responsibility efforts, which include regularly conducting free medical camps for underserved communities.
